Quick post before I go to bed because I felt really attractive today... P.S. I've been getting a bit "girlified" with S-girl re: going for a tan lately (though the pic is darkened a bit because the flash made my panties show through my pants too much - LOL!)


It's been a bit of a month

Yes, I am going to take a reflective look at my month...

January and the year itself started off badly with us in a hotel due to smoke damage in our unit re: a fir next door.

Our contents insurance has a deductible of $1000 so we are out that $1000 - which sucks since Hubs lost his job a month after I had Baby Girl and we are surviving on his EI but if he doesn't have a job by the beginning of May - that is the end of his coverage and I am still at home with Baby Girl and with my anxiety and panic issues - I haven't held down a FT job in YEARS.

I've had some of my friends going through some transformative emotional and physical processes and I've been as supportive as I think I can be.

Nanny is still improving since her stroke, though that has been very stressful for all of us.

I've been dealing with some behavioural issues re: Son and his temper and also his impulse control.

I've been doing well on the Hate-loss challenge as well as getting back on track re: my own weight loss journey since I had that set-back at the beginning of the month.

Last night I got an email re: a group of women I've been friends with since I was pregnant with Baby Girl re: my presence (or lack thereof) in some of the online gathering places of the group and that I apparently do not participate enough for some of the people.

And since I have always participated for about the same amount of time - it seems rather fishy to me, but, frankly - why would I want to continue being a part of a group when some people are going to talk about me behind my back?

Some of the moms on the group are awesome ladies who are still on my FB and that's all good - but I will say that my feelings were still hurt by what happened since I know I've never done anything untoward to any of them - but, it is what it is.

It's left me feeling a bit moody - hence why this is my first non-photo post of the day.

Tonight I have part one of the re-scheduled Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (which I was supposed to attend last year but they changed the dates and didn't let me know).

So I am looking fwd to that though I am feeling a bit panicked and stressed because we are apparently in for a hell of a storm and it's supposed to hit tomorrow but I have myself all cranked up because I am worried it could happen tonight while I am out.

Just call me Nervous Nellie.

I had a crap night's sleep with strange dreams...

BUT

  • I think I look pretty good today
  • for the 2nd day in a row I ran one full lap at the track
  • I have been to the track everyday for more than a week
  • Baby Girl is saying, "Mama" more distinctly AND blowing kisses and waving
  • Son should be grading for his orange belt in Kung Fu soon
  • Hubs and I love each other
  • I have great friends (irl and online) who support and inspire me

The last book I read was Dirty Secret by Jessie Sholl - an excellent book, (which I won from NerdGirlBlogger) though it really makes me wonder if I am on my way to becoming a Hoarder.  My books might already count as that???

Late in the day, weigh-in -- HOLY CRAP!

weight:  215.6 lbs

So I had not weighed in this morning since I was going out so early and then I was struck down by a migraine by mid-afternoon - had a nap - am up now and Hubs asked if I'd weighed myself today.

Since I hadn't and I was getting my PJs on -  I did and was I ever pleased to see 215.6 lbs!

I would hope I'd hold at that tomorrow or maybe (wouldn't it be awesome) drop a bit more...

I may just have to end up at the track again in the early morning tmw since an old friend is coming into town to visit... so I likely won't be able to go walk tmw night.

Don't know if I can manage to do it that early again... but 1G1D1Y and M are going in the evening.

Not sure if S-girl will be up for another morning either - guess some of this will depend on the amount of sleep i get tonight...

it's 6:27 a.m.

I was up breast-feeding Baby Girl at 2:40 and then she didn't go to sleep until almost 3:30.  Then was up with her again at 5:30.

Going to the rec center in minutes with 1G1D1Y and S-girl should be meeting us there.

How's that for shocking.

I got up early to exercise!

Hate-loss challenge update & NSVs

So, I guess my post about this will largely be the fact that I bought a sexy bra and matching panties yesterday to wear for Hubs last night since it was our anniversary.

First time I've worn something sexy in a few years.

I bought two new pairs of exercise pants yesterday - size LARGE since my XXLs and my XLs keep falling down.

And I was also able to wear Hubs winter jacket ZIPPED UP!!!  When I bought it for him a couple of months ago, I couldn't come close to zipping it up.

I think, overall, my mood is better and more positive.  I did have a tough time when trying to find some sports bras that I would like and that would really cut down on the "movement" and I am still SOL on that front.

Although being positive about MYSELF does not come naturally to me -- it is getting easier.

And I am getting a lot better at accepting compliments.

Looking over my food log + tangent = underthings photo

OK so if you've been on my blog for awhile, I am sure you are aware that I am still nursing Baby Girl (though she is also eating some baby food too).

I thought I'd look over my average daily calories by month and summarize it here.

For August 2010 - Daily Average: Food: 1790kcal (Fat: 63.93g, Protein: 85.19g, Carbs: 226.25g)
For September 2010 - Daily Average: Food: 1878kcal (Fat: 67.11g, Protein: 90.80g, Carbs: 235.61g)
For October 2010 - Daily Average: Food: 1647kcal (Fat: 58.75g, Protein: 80.34g, Carbs: 207.59g)
For November 2010 - Daily Average: Food: 1621kcal (Fat: 62.11g, Protein: 77.72g, Carbs: 195.22g)
For December 2010 - Daily Average: Food: 1681kcal (Fat: 67.77g, Protein: 75.57g, Carbs: 213.79g)

For January 2011 (so far -- except for the 4 or 5 days in the hotel)  - "Daily Average: Food: 1584kcal (Fat: 60.10g, Protein: 68.37g, Carbs: 202.42g)"

I do my best to track all my food but I only track deliberate exercise, if you know what I mean -- any shopping over 15 - 20 minutes and then my walking, my workouts that sort of thing but I don't track regular day-to-day stuff like laundry or child-rearing etc...

That actually looks better than I thought re: my protein consumption as Dr. W wants me to have 75-90 grams of protein daily.

But again, those are what my monthly averages are.  S-girl picked up more of my protein powder for me while she was out today and I tossed her the cash for it so I can get back into the habit of my shakes as I've been slacking in the fruit department a bit (aside from apple slices).

I feel cranky and tired today - am wondering if it's because I haven't had ANY green tea today -- oh crap, and I haven't had my vitamin D or my b12 or my iron yet -- the day kind of got away from me today.

It's been 4 yrs since Hubs and I first met in cyber-space though.

So that's the nicest thing I can say about today, followed by a quick trip to the store with S-girl so I could look for some sports bras that would hold me in better (no luck with my low budget) but I did get two new (and smaller) pairs of pants so hopefully the next time I run, job or "wog"  - I don't need to hold my pants up.

And since Hubs won't likely read this until maybe tomorrow or Thursday - I did get a cute pair of panties and a matching bra.  Decorative only because, frankly, the bra (38DD) barely contains the girls but that was the largest size they had where we were shopping, especially in anything I would consider to be remotely "sexy".

2 trips to the rec center today

For a total of 1 hr and 48 minutes of walking.

Did over 5 k my first time there - but less the second time I went though... 1G1D1Y and M were feeling a bit rough and I was a little tired.

I had been thinking about a potential blog post when I was walking and once I got home - poof, it went right out of my head.

Maybe it'll come back to me???

First of all...

 (it's blurry because the it showed up better without using the flash).

 So here's a reminder of the weight loss goals I have achieved thus far based on my 278 weight as of July 23, 2010

Goal 1: lose 10 lbs by Aug 23, 2010 - CHECK
5% of my July 23rd weight lost = 264.1 lbs - CHECK
Goal 2: get to 265 lbs - CHECK
Goal 3: get to 258 lbs by Sept 11, 2010 <-- CHECK as of Sept 18th, 2010

So, I haven't been spending much re: new clothes because things are tight financially around here.  Well, I may have to consider it.

I was walking up the stairs last night and my PJ bottoms started to slide down and I didn't notice and I managed to catch the big toe on my left foot in the bottom of my right PJ leg and tripped myself and fell.

Of course, I fell bad leg first against the stairs.  Yep, that's right.  Landed on the leg I fell on last week outside on the ice of the rec center.

I have ALWAYS been self-conscious about my stomach.  The other choice was my nose, but I grew into it a few years ago...

Or so I thought... I was caught unaware this morning and ended up in a pic 1G1D1Y snapped and maybe I *do* still have an issue with my nose... you tell me what you think... (and yes, I'm barefoot - I hate socks and didn't realize we'd have to take off our boots in the damn store).

Thoughts and prayers to another blogger...

I have only been following JewliaGoulia for a relatively short amount of time and I think I have only commented on maybe 2 of her posts, but I've found her journey very inspiring.

I also follow her on Twitter and I was very sad to read that her Mom passed away suddenly this afternoon.

I believe that most of you know that my parents, the ones who raised me since they got me as a foster baby in 1972, have both died.

And that really sucks.

And it breaks my heart a little every time I hear of someone else going though the same thing.

So my thoughts and prayers go out to Julia and her family tonight.

And if any of my blog readers pray - please do so for them tonight.

Journey to health - Day 186

weight:  219.0 lbs
(@1G1D1Y -- I re-weighed after nursing the baby and going to the bathroom)

When I started this I was 278 lbs.  And when I was lackadaisical about it a few months before that - I was 286 lbs.

I am VERY excited right now.

59 lbs gone since July 23, 2010.
67 lbs gone since April 4, 2010.

I am ONE POUND AWAY from being down 60 lbs since July and being the weight I was when I first met Hubs in person!!!

This morning, 1G1D1Y, her Mom, her MoH (and MoH's adorable baby) and I were out at the bridal shop.

1G1D1Y ordered her dress!!!  It was beautiful and the store was fun and we offered unsolicitated opinions to another bride-to-be who was trying things on.

I found myself looking at some of the bridal gowns too (at Hubs' urging on my way out the door actually).

You see, Hubs is *technically* my mistress - LOL!

I left Husband v1.0 in Jan 2005 but I refuse to pay for the divorce since I was the one who was faithful and I was the one who paid off all the marital debt, even though most of it was because of him - and I've never taken him to court for child support so I've never seen more than $280 from him in a YEAR since he's not legally obligated towards anything.

Hence why I won't pay for the divorce.

That being said, Hubs would like us to be legally wed.  The first time he spoke of marrying me was less than a week before the first time we met in person.

Yes, that's right - Hubs did one of those things that I'd normally view as a "fatal flaw" the first day we started chatting on MSN - but (lucky for him *tee hee*) I found it charming.

And Hv1.0 has been engaged to his common-law spouse since Xmas of '07 and she's getting impatient.

*shrug*

Anyway -- when we go to pick up Son from school - then we are heading straight to the rec center.  S-girl is going to try to meet us there as well.

Worked out AND did my 5k later on

So today -- what a day.  Seemed to be a bit of an emotional day for some of my friends as well as myself for various reasons.

Hubs was glad that Nanny is improving.

I was feeling a little alone and left out of things outside of my family and my weight loss journey to health.

A couple of other friends were having some self-esteem issues re: their own journeys.

There's been introspection, depression, lack of motivation, grumpiness, determination, LOVE, and friendship all within my own home today.

Is it the moon?

Is it something in the air?

Is it my damn hormones?????

No one knows.

Oh and there was some serious anger and righteous indignation while we were out at the track tonight thanks to a complete asshat.

What am I missing?

But anyways - despite my mood - I spent some time with some friends.  I did my EA Sports Active workout.  I also did my 5k at the track tonight AND

I jogged/ran for 3/4 of one of my laps without stopping!!!

Of course, that sort of did me in re: some evil shin splints but holy crap!!! I was awesome!

Am waiting for my hard-boiled egg to become hard-boiled... I really should have made it before I went out... damn it - I'm hungry NOW!!!

Sorry I haven't done a lot of blog reading today... if I've missed anything major - please tell me!

Edited to add:

S-girl brought over my "stress cupcake" for me today - it was this wickedly awesome and funny in-joke and I was whining about forgetting it there on Boxing Day and each time we've been there since - I never think of it until I'm back home.

So now Hubs has to beware because I told him if he irks me too much, I'll throw it at his head (same idea as those old "tv bricks" ppl could buy).

But Son thinks it's really cool and he was squeezing it earlier in the evening and then Baby Girl really wanted it and then she dropped it and it scared the cat so the cat attacked it.

Then we gave it back to Baby Girl and we realized that due to the shape, she seemed to think it was a portable breast and she popped it in her mouth as if she was nursing and then started squeezing the sides like she was trying to speed up the milk.

It was pretty funny - so now I am nursing while editing the entry to add that lil story...

the whole family went to the track tonight

I got a short video of Son (but it cut off because my SD card was full)





And I also took a snap of Son and one of Step-Daughter.





Hubs did 6 k, plus some stairs!!! I did 5k plus some stairs.

Son did 5 k plus some stairs and Step-Daughter did 2 or 3 k plus some stairs.

Baby Girl was awake for some of it and seem content and then slept.

Weight update...

weight:  220.6 lbs

Not a lot of loss this week but I'm wondering if all the walking + the smidge of jogging/running is building some lean muscle mass for me??

We're kicking around the house atm... step-daughter is working on a speech for school.  Hubs is heating up soup.  Son is doing kung fu stances.  Baby Girl is chewing on her index finger.  I am blogging.

The kids really want to go to the track so I think tonight (if the kids are good) our whole household will go to the track.

Hubs can push Baby Girl in the stroller so I can go whatever speeds I am comfortable with and Step-Daughter will likely keep pace with her Daddy whilst I suspect Son will run around as fast as he possibly can for the first little while and then he'll likely keep pace with me.

1G1D1Y & M. are going too - though I don't know if they are bringing any of their kids along tonight.

Now if the kids start driving me batty - then they can stay home with Hubs.

Oh and Hubs said he was up to 184 the other day, but his weight frequently fluctuates.  Also, he doesn't follow portion control and such as much as I do.

I would LOVE to end up weighing less than Hubs and maintaining at a weight less than his.

That is the plan!!!

OK I am having a tough time with this one.  I mean there's a lot I'd like to do before I die -- fit into some specific old dresses of mine... see my kids grow up, have babies.  I have always said i want to live to be over 100 just so I can be the cranky old lady that no one can shut up.


But how do I take a picture of that?


I'd also like to have SOMETHING I've written be published.  I'd like to figure out what else I want to be when I grow up.


I'd like to actually own a house rather than renting forever.

But really, I can't think of how to depict any of that so I guess I'll post 2 old pics of me wearing dresses that I'd like to fit into again...

Watching an ep of x-weighted

*edited to add* it was a season 2 ep I was watching featuring Nicole in 2007.

OK so at the start, Nicole on the show is 5 ft 6' tall.

Her measurements are:
Chest - 42"
Waist - 40"
Hips - 45 1/2"
and she weighs 178 lbs.

Now, I am 5 ft 5 and 1/2" tall

My measurements are:
Chest - 44 and 1/2"

Waist - 41 and 1/2"

Hips - 51 and 1/2"


and the day I had Hubs do my measurements I was 222.0 lbs.

So my chest is 2 and 1/2 inches larger than her start.
My waist is 1 and 1/2 inches larger than her start.
My hips are 6 inches larger than her start.

That's 10 inches.

Yet I'm 44 lbs heavier than her.  And since she was dressed and wearing jeans let's say her clothes were 3 lbs.

So that still is at least 41 lbs more than her with a 10 inch difference in measurements and me being half an inch shorter.


What's up with that???

My 1st vlog! + Hate loss update



Short but I really didn't know what to do. It's still finishing loading or something on youtube so the quality might be a bit funny when I first post it.

So yes, a bunch of us went to the rec center this morning.

It was Hubs, 1G1D1Y & M (her maid of honour) + M's adorable baby, S-girl, Baby Girl and D.

I also snapped a couple of pics (not of the other ladies though)...





So I have to say re: Hate-Loss challenge

I am feeling pretty damn good about myself this week.

I have done some RUNNING. Me. RUNNING!!!

You have no idea how amazing that is to me.

Yeah, I'm a little bummed that my weight loss is a little slow right now but I am still losing and I might well be gaining lean muscle mass.

BTW - weight: 221.2 lbs

So - basically - go me! Hurray!!!

5 k in 51 mins - and I ran/jogged for 1 k of it!

OK so, despite being incapable of jogging/running, BREATHING and talking -- 1G1D1Y managed to get me to run for 1 k of our 5 k today.

No, not one whole k of running -- if I'd tried that - you'd see Hubs posting on here that something unfortunate had happened to me - but we ran part of every other lap and then a bit on each of the last ones.

And tonight I did NOT have to use one hand to hold up my pants and the other to hold my boobs (even though there was major boob floppage despite the fact that I was wearing TWO sports bras!)

Though on the walking bits, I was slower because I did not remember to take any Tylenol or Motrin for my female stuff and my damn knee hurts more (and is more colourful) than it did/was yesterday.

All in all though - I am pretty proud of myself!

And tonight I did not notice my thighs slapping together as if they wanted to do a Thigh 5 instead of a High 5 - but I swear it happened last night and I'd even told 1G1D1Y that I was going to blog about it - then I ended up forgetting to.

Oh and earlier today I went to see S-girl and she passed on a pair of jeans to me that are too big for her.

They are 14s but don't fit like the two pairs of 14s that I own and can wear so I have a new pair of jeans to make short-term goal jeans...

It makes me really self-conscious to post unflattering pics of myself but I really do try to keep things honest and real around here so...

*sigh*
