Happy 1st birthday, Baby Girl (March 24th)

*This post was prepared in advance* <-- but I screwed up and published it earl... OH WELL!

Well, my EDD was first set at April 4th and then adjusted to April 3rd, my scheduled c-section was set for March 24, 2010.

It was SO MUCH better than my emergency c-section with Son. The worst part was that they blew a vein trying to get my IV in (took 3 attempts) and how badly I was bruised from the spinal (which I had them keep trying until they got it in - despite how much it hurt because I did not want to be put under).

The best thing in the world was when the OBGYN told me that I had a Baby Girl ("and she's peeing")!

Even though it seemed unlikely that I would ever have another child after Son... and especially so after our surprise pregnancy and miscarriage right before we had Baby Girl... I could not be more thankful.

As a child, I wanted to be a Mom more than anything.

In high school, I had decided that I wanted to have a girl, then a boy and then one more baby (hopefully a girl, though a boy would be OK). I was into older, classic names then... and thought I would have an Emily, an Edward and an Anne.

Thanks to Hubs having Step-Daughter, I do have my girl, my boy and my girl.

But this post is about Baby Girl so here come the pics!

Pics from the party

So these aren't all the pics from today but they are a portion of them.

It ended up working out OK... although the bulk of the guest didn't arrive until closer to 3:30 so Baby Girl was rather tired and cranky.

I got a lot of compliments from the family on how I am looking, even though I was having a bit of a bad hair day and my shirt, which I thought looked very pretty on me when looking in the mirror did not do flattering things to my torso as evidenced by the pics I am in...

Step-Daughter has asked to have the shirt if I am not going to wear it anymore (because, yes, it will fit her because although she is shorter than me and weighs about 75 lbs less than I do -- her frame is very different than mine so she usually needs to wear a ladies L in shirts (like I wear most of the time now).

Am tired and we are all going with Hubs to take Step-Daughter back to her mother's tomorrow so that we can also visit Hubs' parents so they can see Baby Girl.

G'night my friends!

Celebrating Baby Girl's bday today!

weight: 206.4 lbs

Well, today is the day we celebrate.

The cakes are baked - the icing is a disaster but it'll be edible.

Veggies are chopped, cheese is sliced - and my reputation as a NON-domestic goddess shall persist for years to come.

But, it's all been done with love.

And a blogger asked me today if I like Kevin Smith.

I back-dated and added a cross-post from my other blog that I wrote in Nov after seeing Kevin in our area.

I also have an autographed copy of his book, "My boring ass life" which Hubs got for me in 2007 (and here's a pic of Hubs with Kevin Smith).

And, one of the early crass things I said to Hubs was, after he'd moved in with me, I was talking about Kevin Smith and Hubs was all, "Who?"

My response was, "I can't believe I let you put your dick in me, when you don't even know who Kevin Smith is!"

Of course, I still love Hubs even though he also fails to understand the awesomeness that is Monty Python too...

Busy day

So I am going to blog this, then tell Son & Step-Daughter to get off the Wii and then I have bday cakes to bake.

We are having Baby Girl's 1st bday party tomorrow afternoon (even though it's not her bday until next wk).  This means that Son and Step-Daughter are here for the party rather than doing it when they are with their other parents.

I just got in from the grocery store... I *think* I have everything I need.

It's hard planning when I'm not exactly sure how many of my relatives are attending...

Here's the list of the invitees who are either attending or may be attending...

Baby Girl, Son, Step-Daughter, myself and Hubs
K-n-R & their two rugrats
S-girl & J
1G1D1Y and her girls (may be attending, even if without the kids)
M & her two kids (may be attending)
my birth Mom
my half-sister (and her bf?)
My two sisters and their spouses
My SIL (as my older bro is working)
My niece, her hubby and their two wee ones

I haven't heard back from: one of my nieces and her fiance, one of my nephews & his fiancee and my youngest niece.

My other niece & her fiancee and my nephew & his wife and my older brother cannot attend.

The way it works in my adoptive family is that we all try to make it out for the 1st bday, and then after that - it's not mandatory, if you know what I mean.

I'm worried I'm not going to have enough munchies...

Munchies List

  • celery
  • baby carrots
  • a tray with honeydew, cantaloupe, grapes, apple slices & pineapple
  • multigrain Tostitos
  • whole wheat Ritz crackers
  • marble cheese
  • medium cheddar cheese
  • roasted red pepper dip
  • asiago & artichoke blue menu dip
  • tatzaki blue menu dip
  • roasted garlic hummus
  • sliced raw bell peppers
  • mini pepperettes
And then because of the amount of people we are having - we are having two cakes and vanilla ice cream.

I hope it will be a nice afternoon - and I have a cute lil outfit for Baby Girl to wear.

Expect to see photos!

Have a great day, everyone!

Today we celebrated Step-Daughter's bday

Here are some pics...

(Oh and I totally threw up at the mani-pedi place, the smells were getting to me and my antibiotics were making me nauseous already...)

Yes, I'm wearing the pink shirt!

Step-daughter is excited!

Luckily, K told me how to turn off the seat part of the massaging chair because I felt like I was being violated!!!

It was all like - oh this is really relaxing... then... ACK!!!!

LOL!

We had raw peppers, baby carrots, celery, cucumber slices, cantaloupe, golden delicious apple slices, medium cheddar cheese, marble cheese and Havarti cheese, whole wheat Ritz crackers, whole grain vegetable thins and whole wheat with red pepper and garlic crackers, 1 bag of whole grain Tostitos and 1 bag of plain ripple cut chips with garlic hummus and asiago & artichoke dip.

Son complained about all the healthy choices the entire time but he did eat some apple slices, some baby carrots, some cantaloupe and a couple of slices of yellow pepper.

Baby Girl made some hilarious faces when I gave her a taste of the cheddar - had I anticipated that, I'd have had the camera in video mode so no evidence of the faces which were surprisingly similar to her faces in January when she tried the lemon slice.

Now we are back at home, relaxing.

P.S. weighed in this a.m. (before food and such) - still 208.0 lbs

I have mastitis...

Sorry I didn't update after I got back from the DR.

I was feeling like complete and utter crap as well as being irked that 10 freakin' anti-biotic pills cost me $62.32.

Baby Girl is pulling herself up on everything lately and wails if she's confined to a playpen or her bouncer when I have to do unreasonable things like go to the bathroom for instance ;)

Tomorrow is Step-Daughter's bday party which K is letting us have at her house (our place is tiny). S-girl made the cupcakes. I still have more things to chop up re: finger foods but I am taking a moment to post an update.

Son feed Baby Girl some food while I was cutting up the bricks of cheese so he was being very helpful. And I appreciate it.

Tomorrow K, S-girl, Step-Daughter and myself are going for pedicures while the menfolk (and Baby Girl) are at Kung Fu.

It should be fun.

So, what colour polish should I get on my toes?
