"I'm fat as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" -- this was my original summary of Fat, Angry Blog. Between July 23, 2010 & April 2, 2011 I went from 278 lbs to 204.2 lbs. BUT here I am near the end of July 2012 at 255 lbs... *SIGH* I've got to stick with it this time!

Where I'm at - mentally, physically and financially
So what I tend to do when I get depressed is that I throw myself into something different.
I become less introspective and tend to internalize the things going on rather than dealing with them.
With that being said...
First things first.
Mentally - I'm still really out of sorts, unmotivated, depressed and frustrated.
Physically - I have only being doing the diaperfit class with Baby Girl and I've been eating complete crap. Ready for the horrible backslide confession???
I am appalled that I've done this.
But here we go.
*sigh*
Weight: 232.0 lbs
That's up 27.8 lbs from my all-time low of 204.2 back in April on this year.
:(
The things I've thrown myself into re: my main method of escapism...
#1 - genealogical research (which is actually pretty cool and is helping me feel more connected to the maternal side of my birth family.
#2 - online games - word games, yahtzee, FB games like who wants to be a millionaire and are you smarter than a 5th grader and family feud.
#3 - going out dancing with my friends (although I have been doing more drinking than my usual).
#4 - EATING CRAPPY FOOD!
Financially things are tight. Hubs has not found work yet, though he did attend a job fair on Saturday and he has had 3 job interviews this week so we're hoping something comes of it all... though he'd most like to hear from the job fair and that's the one he hasn't heard anything from.
He was 62 hrs under what he needed to qualify for employment insurance so we've had no income since he was let go in Sept.
If it weren't for the fact that we live in geared-to-income housing and that I receive the Canada Child Tax Benefit for Little Man and Rhyme Girl - we'd be completely fucked.
Hopefully one of these interviews turns into a job. Worst case scenario - we apply for Ontario Works (aka welfare) and I look into going back to retail part-time around whatever temp work Hubs can find.
*sigh*
re: the kids:
I've been having some real issues with Little Man and his temper... it's stressing me out a lot.
I've ordered a new book with some birthday money I received and once it gets here, and I read it - I'll either post here or on my kids blog about it.
And I'm still concerned about Baby Girl's speech development.
At her 18-month-appointment - she was not hitting all the milestones, but she was close. Our family DR told me to wait until she's 2 and see how she's doing then.
This is the same thing he said about Little Man so I've got Baby Girl on a waiting list at KidsAbility just in case.
She is communicative - but she still uses a limited amount of words.
Because Little Man has autism spectrum disorder and Rhyme Girl has ADHD - I am really trying to be proactive when it comes to Baby Girl because that places her at an increased risk of having one or both of these issues.
I really need to stop being self-destructive re: eating crap, not exercising, not expressing my feelings & just HIDING from the things that are bothering me.
I can't promise that I'll blog as much as I used to -- but I am going to commit to making at least one entry per week.
I hope everyone else is doing better than I am...

Proof of walking
Of course she took more steps before I got the camera up.
New record is NINE unassisted steps in a row!

Baby Girl had her 15-month appointment this afternoon
Her weight is 21.78 lbs
Her height/length is 30.75 inches
According to a baby growth percentile calculator that means for her age that she is:
Length = between percentile 50 and 75
Weight = between percentile 25 and 50
She fell asleep in the car afterwards (she had her Pneumoccal conjugate vaccination but we declined the chicken pox vaccine).
Since she was asleep - we went for a drive though the less populated areas nearby and saw a turtle (which I stopped and took a photo of).
Then she and Little Man played outside and she had her first independent ride on the teeter-totter (Little Man was on the other side) but Baby Girl held on all by herself!
Her next appt at the DR is Tues., Sept 27th at 10:30 a.m.
In other news, Little Man got his report card. He is advancing to Grade 4 in September.
His highest grades were in French (A in writing, A - in oral communication & B+ in reading) compared to his English grades (C+ in writing, B- in oral communication & B in reading) and that C+ was the lowest grade that he received.
The deal we have with the kids is that they get $2 for each A (whether or not it's an A+, an A- or a regular A) and $1 for each B so he's got a $21 dollar report card.
And earlier today, I did my 5k at the track with Baby Girl and I edited this post at 8:07 p.m. to list my steps for the day -- 9738 steps.

Keep the good vibes coming!!!
The hiring decision for the job Hubs interviewed for last week should be made by Friday and when Hubs called to follow up, he was told that he'd be informed either way.
When I was a retail store manager, I would only tell the best candidates that I would let them know either way and the others, I would thank for coming in and inform them that I'd be making my decision by a certain date.
I *really* hope he gets this job.
Now, onto cuteness...
Baby Girl loves Lady Gaga - I also have her dancing to Britney but that's not uploaded yet...

Baby Girl Update
So let's see...
Baby Girl weaned herself from breastmilk this month (about mid-month).
She now eats apple slices, bananas (sliced) raw or frozen, raisins, cheese, crackers, Cheerios, baby cookies, buttered or garlic toast, pizza (though she likes the crust the best), chicken breast, turkey breast, gravy, baked beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cooked carrots, corn, peas, apple sauce, baby food (though not often), hamburger meat, pasta, bread and rice.
She's also had birthday cake, ice cream, cheesies and popcorn.
And she does not seem to care for apple juice so far but she will drink watered down orange juice, homogenized (aka "whole") milk and water.
She has also enjoyed having spoonfuls of my smoothie when I have one.
She has had red peppers, spinach, cucumber and celery but hasn't been over enamoured of them.
For words she says:
- Mama (and it's the first one she used to indicate a person - ME!)
- Dada
- Baby
- Bye-Bye
- Good Girl
- Big Girl
- uh-oh
Still no more than one unassisted step, but she crawls a lot, stands a lot and keeps trying to climb things!
And she's working on her canine teeth. Lower left is probably going to be the next tooth through which would but her at 13 teeth.
Not too shabby for a 14-month-old, I think...

Still not feeling quite like myself
OK so let me start with the cardiac stress test I had on Tuesday.
It seemed to be going normally but once I was off the treadmill and they were monitoring me as I caught my breath, my heart rate spiked to over 200 and stayed there for just over a minute.
The cardiologist was concerned about it.
He also noticed a slight heart murmur when he was listening to my heart beat.
So I went back in on Wednesday for an echocardiogram and I have to wait until June 20th to go back in to learn how to use something called an "event monitor."
I will be using it for at least 2 weeks starting on the 20th and then once he analyzes all the results - I'll have a better idea of what's going on.
What I am finding really rather strange and disconcerting about it all is that I can't recall a time in my life where I didn't have breathing issues after really exerting myself and then, once I would catch my breath it would feel like my heart was racing and that there was the sound of thunder and water in my ears.
So it seems normal to me.
Now I feel very freaked out about it all.
Do you know what I mean?
As I got older, I attributed it more to my heart racing in a belated panic reaction to my difficulty with drawing what I feel is sufficient breath.
But I can remember having that sort of thing happen back in my bar days where I would dance all night and drink tons of water.
I can remember it happening in high school.
All the way back to elementary school.
I will say that it seems a bit more severe or incapacitating now - as in it feels like it takes me longer to recover but that could just be my perception.
In other news... Baby Girl is still not walking. Though she has taken one unassisted step on two separate occasions.
And she is still not a fan of the outdoors, swings or slides as of yet.

Why do kids put everything in their mouths?
Seriously.
I want to know!
I notice with Baby Girl that she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth and when it actually *is* something that is edible, she jams it in there.
Son did have an issue with eating non-food items when he was younger (he LOVED to eat paper) but he put less things in his mouth and when it was food, he was really good about putting in only the smallest pieces at a time.
So is this a boy vs girl thing? Or an autism vs neurologically "typical" thing? Or a first child vs second child thing?
Or just a coincidence???
Grr Arrgh!

Girl stuff, the movie Limitless & other things
My fashionably late period has shown up and I feel like HELL this morning!
:(
And I do have pernicious anemia but I do take B12 sub lingual tablets plus iron so I still can't figure out why I've been so wiped out lately...
Before I forget... if any of my readers are on Facebook, please go to http://www.facebook.com/fitnessdepot click "like" & then go to the wall, find the pic that you see at the top of my blog & click "like" on the photo of Cara-Mae (me).
If I get the most "likes" by May 15th, I can win a $250 gift card from Fitness Depot and I could certainly use some new equipment and since Hubs has STILL not heard from anyone re: getting a job - y'all know I can't afford to buy anything.
Yesterday Hubs and I used our two-for-1 movie coupon to attend the "Stars & Strollers" matinee showing of "Limitless" which, unfortunately tested the limits of my patience.
Despite the lead role being filled by the dreamy and charismatic Bradley Cooper, the movie was extremely predictable, overall rather boring and relied far more on "tell me" rather than "show me" in regards to the voice-overs from the aforementioned Cooper.
Robert De Niro was drab and played a minor role. All in all, a very disappointing outing.
On the good news department, Son found my missing car key! So now the only missing items are my pedometer (lost outside) and Hubs' cell phone.
Here's another video of Baby Girl from Hubs' camera... it's very cute!

Baby Girl's (belated) 1 year appointment
Height: 29 and 1/2 inches (between percentile 50 and 75)
Weight: 20.37 lbs (between percentile 25 and 50)
Nurse didn't tell me the HC.
She got her MMR in her right arm and Menjugate in her left arm.
I did not know that the MMR can have a delayed reaction. The nurse told us that any fever in even the next 10 - 14 days could be because of that.
We were also warned that she could get a slight rash and to not worry if that happens.
And that if the injection sites get red and inflamed - then we need to bring her back in.

Happy 1st birthday, Baby Girl (March 24th)
*This post was prepared in advance* <-- but I screwed up and published it earl... OH WELL!
Well, my EDD was first set at April 4th and then adjusted to April 3rd, my scheduled c-section was set for March 24, 2010.
It was SO MUCH better than my emergency c-section with Son. The worst part was that they blew a vein trying to get my IV in (took 3 attempts) and how badly I was bruised from the spinal (which I had them keep trying until they got it in - despite how much it hurt because I did not want to be put under).
The best thing in the world was when the OBGYN told me that I had a Baby Girl ("and she's peeing")!
Even though it seemed unlikely that I would ever have another child after Son... and especially so after our surprise pregnancy and miscarriage right before we had Baby Girl... I could not be more thankful.
As a child, I wanted to be a Mom more than anything.
In high school, I had decided that I wanted to have a girl, then a boy and then one more baby (hopefully a girl, though a boy would be OK). I was into older, classic names then... and thought I would have an Emily, an Edward and an Anne.
Thanks to Hubs having Step-Daughter, I do have my girl, my boy and my girl.
But this post is about Baby Girl so here come the pics!

Pics from the party
So these aren't all the pics from today but they are a portion of them.
It ended up working out OK... although the bulk of the guest didn't arrive until closer to 3:30 so Baby Girl was rather tired and cranky.
I got a lot of compliments from the family on how I am looking, even though I was having a bit of a bad hair day and my shirt, which I thought looked very pretty on me when looking in the mirror did not do flattering things to my torso as evidenced by the pics I am in...
Step-Daughter has asked to have the shirt if I am not going to wear it anymore (because, yes, it will fit her because although she is shorter than me and weighs about 75 lbs less than I do -- her frame is very different than mine so she usually needs to wear a ladies L in shirts (like I wear most of the time now).
Am tired and we are all going with Hubs to take Step-Daughter back to her mother's tomorrow so that we can also visit Hubs' parents so they can see Baby Girl.
G'night my friends!

Baby Girl loves Katy Perry
Not much to update today...
Was out at the mall for over 2 hrs today. Bought Step-Daughter bday stuff and got myself some creamy body wash and body butter (sensual amber scent) and then I snagged black raspberry vanilla body spray from Bath & Body Works (my 1st time in the store - LOVE IT!)
I did smell some nice lemon verbena hand cream that made me think of Little House and the Prairie (I think it was Ms. Beadle who wore that scent that Laura liked).
And now for something that actually relates to my post title, here's a long video of Baby Girl making happy noises to a Katy Perry song.
And here's an OLD sped-up video of our cat... (not the one in my main photo - he died in 2004)

Kid post
Friday night, Son said that he wished that I could be his cuddly (term we use for the 2 older kids' stuffed animals that they sleep with) because I am "cuddly, warm and pretty."
My Son can be a real charmer sometimes :>
Shortly after my previous post, Baby Girl stood up in her playpen for the first time.
She pulled herself to a stand last wkend by grabbing the handle of one of the filing cabinet drawers - which was the first time she'd done it outside of her crib (where she's been doing that for awhile).
It's getting pretty exciting!
Though she's stopped calling me "Mama" and has started calling me "nummanumma" which is also what she says when she wants food.
ARRGH!

Did a 5 k walk last night
The 5 k (which is going around the indoor track 21 and 1/4 times on the inside lane) took me an hour and 2 minutes.
It was just myself and 1G1D1Y.
She snapped this pic of me while we were there on her camera phone...
**unrelated to this post but, when I got home I discovered that Baby Girl popped her 8th tooth! (#7 appeared the last wk of Dec).
I googled how long it should take to walk 5 k and here's what I found on about.com

Baby Girl , the evil cold, a popcorn temptation and a trip to Narnia
weight: 227.0 lbs
I think last night was actually the worst night's sleep we've had (or really DIDN'T have since we were awake so much) since Baby Girl was born.
She has a cough, her eyes are watering, her nose is running and she's not a happy girl :(
Though she sort of smiled in this snap because she was trying to grab the camera strap.
Son has a cough.
Hubs and I are still OK at the moment but the lack of sleep is neither helping our energy levels nor our dispositions.
I took Son to see the newest Narnia movie at the theatre in 3D yesterday.
It was the first time 3D didn't end up giving me a wicked headache afterwards.
It was also the first time I've gone to the movies without eating a large or XL buttered popcorn (Son and I SHARED a small popcorn!)
This movie strayed the most from the plot of the book and, therefore, is my least favourite Narnia movie.

Between my pseudo cold and Baby Girl's night time antics - I feel like crap!
Yes, like crap.
I haven't done any real exercise in a couple of days and my weight shows it.
weight: 233.2 lbs
I'm sneezing, my head hurts, my back hurts and I am full of phelgm which makes my head feel like it's super-huge!
I feel like Jim from MTV's The Head!
Baby Girl has just NOT BEEN SLEEPING at night. We are lucky if she's gone to sleep by 2 a.m. and then she's up for boob around 4 (where she falls asleep again quickly but we don't) and again around 6 at which point she then conks out until around 11 a.m.
During the day, she tends to wake up as soon as we put her in her playpen (just like she mostly does when placed in her crib at night) but will sleep when being held.
I keep hoping this is teething related or just a growth spurt but it seriously SUCKS and it's making Hubs and I rather cranky (though he is worse than I am).
That being said, Baby Girl is still super-cute and she is 8 months old as of yesterday!
I feel a little light-headed, headachey and my tummy feels off so food has been tricky.
Though I forgot to blog about this -- but we had Lipton's chicken noodle soup the other day and I'd mistakenly grabbed a regular box rather than the low sodium.
It was DISGUSTING!!!!
And I grew up on Lipton's chicken noodle soup. I seriously had it sometimes multiple times a week from my childhood onwards.
It was so salty I could barely stomach it!
I think I need to learn how to make soup since the only soup I've ever had when I lived at home or from when I was out on my own has come from a can, a box or a restaurant.
