I was looking fwd to starting my blog post this morning about a NSV... because I am stepping on the bottom of my PJ legs, since now that there is less of me in them, they hang lower.
Around 4 a.m. I was thinking about writing a bit about nookie since Hubs and I have finally started having sex again (with condoms).
But when I got online this morning, I received some news about a family member with serious addiction problems.
It's not looking well for him at all.
He's on probation for a non-drug-related offense and now he's apparently living in a crack house.
This is not the first time he's gotten in bad with this drug, but, from what I am hearing -- this may well be the last.
And there is nothing I can do to stop him or save him and the last time I saw him, we had a HUGE talk about choices and looking to other ways to deal with the pain of past emotional and physical traumas.
It's back to a worst-case scenario with him... and it breaks my heart.
I am so sorry to hear that. Addiction is a hard, hard thing to beat. It is sad that anyone would throw their life away over pain and the inability to cope. I was there only a few years ago myself - my drug of course was food. You and your family are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteBut you still deserve a hearty YAY for your NSV. Walking on the bottom of your pants is a pretty darned cool thing because what you are doing is working. Go you!
I am sorry about your family member. It is horrible to have to live with that helpless feeling, the knowledge that you can't change him, make it all better for him. *hug*
ReplyDeleteGood for you for the NSV! I am also walking on a log of hems, now. Feels good, doesn't it? :D
Thanks Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I talked to him about that too... I would eat my feelings and when I was younger I also engaged in reckless behaviour with men and I drank a LOT!
And I talked to him about healthier ways of dealing with his feelings - therapy and such because it helped me.
Thank you for thoughts and prayers.
Thank you, Ice Queen :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about your family member :(. It's hard to watch people we love make poor choices like that, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGood for you on the NSV, though. Sounds like you might be needing a new pair of PJs soon!
I'm so sorry. *HUGS* I have two brothers with serious drug addictions, so I know how heartbreaking it can be. My thoughts and prayers are with your family member (and you too).
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that, my thoughts and prayers are with your family. We have a long term addict in our family (for the last 2 decades) and it's always an awful situation. You can't make the choice for someone as much as we would love to. Hang in there, and focus on the good- that's an awesome NSV :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry :( I know how you feel b/c alcoholism is huge in my family as well as drug addiction with a few family members. I know exactly how you feel with trying to help someone get straight that you love and they end up back in that place, lose their jobs, their kids, or even their lives. I wish I could help or had something philosophical to say but it's a really hard thing to deal with :(
ReplyDeleteGratz on your NSV's... especially the nookie ;)
Sorry. There are few things in life harder than having to stand by and watch a loved one self-destruct, knowing there is not a darned thing you can do to help.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteHey babe,
ReplyDeleteYou know where I am if you need me. I'll leave my number for the hotel on Thursday and make sure my cell is turned on the whole time
Love ya!
I'm so sorry to hear about your family member. Addiction is one of those things ya wish you could fix for someone else.. and can't.. :(
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the NSV though.. and the sex! lol.. have fun!
